Emergence

The day in Gorak Shep was bitterly cold and wrapped in cloud. The surrounding peaks disappeared behind shifting layers of mist, and there was no guarantee the climb would reveal anything at all.

Still, we made our way up toward a viewpoint above the village. As we climbed, the clouds began to separate. For a brief moment, the mountain emerged—immense, silent, and illuminated against the deep blue sky—before the clouds gathered around it again.

After the cold and uncertainty of the climb, the view felt like something revealed rather than found.
